Manaona Island : No to child’s labour in vanilla plantations in Madagascar

Madagascar and Indonesia supply most of  the world’s vanilla production. Vanilla pods which only blossom in humid and tropical climate foster our beautiful island’s pride.

This unique spice with sweet and soft aromas, perfumes gently our finest dishes and makes us travel through its heady scents.

Vanilla, the irresistible !

About one hundred thousand malagasy farmers live off this activity.

Sadly ,a study conducted by the International Labour Organization (ILO) counts in 2012, 30% of teenagers and children working  daily in vanilla farms.

For our team,  school is the only place where children belong and we are uncompromising with this fact.

Manaona Island is actively struggling against child’s labour through continuous upstream control of  its fellow farmers.

The company  commited itself to the Malagasy Department of Trade and Industry, on the 01 August 2017  by signing an unilateral declaration  related to active prevention of child labour.

Back us and become part of history! By purchasing Manaona Island items you get the guarantee that no child has worked during all the production process, which is an effective way for us to raise public awareness and  our social work.

We adhere to the values and principles of the National Comitee against the child Labour on purpose to eradicate this scourge at its source.

Our way to love children is to protect their rights, what about yours?
